With so many newborn shoots coming up on my calendar, I thought I’d do a little updated ‘what to wear for your in home newborn shoot’ post today.
Let’s be real, it’s HARD to think about this as your body is changing and clothes just don’t fit like they did pre-baby.
First of all, don’t worry about this, you’ll bounce back quicker than you think, but for those first 2 weeks when it’s prime time for newborn photos, go with something a little flowy to cover any areas you are uncomfortable with.
…
First of all, wear something that makes you feel beautiful. Start there, then figure out the rest based on that.
I always say neutral is best, but some subtle pattern works too.
I love texture, so adding a sweater over a henley for you or an outfit with wooden buttons, ruffles, Peter Pan collar for your little ones is perfect.
If you want to add color to your newborn shoot, the best way is through a blanket that can be in a few shots.
Neutrals keep it timeless and classic.
Here’s a Pinterest board I’ve updated with some great ideas to get you thinking in the right direction for your at home newborn shoot.
I don’t offer a client wardrobe b/c I love how each shoot is so unique to each family from what you choose to wear, how you decorate your home, how the light falls in your home.
It’s all a part of what makes an at home newborn shoot so special.
…
And of course, here are some sweet shoots where families nailed it…..
You’ll find some went more casual and comfortable which works so well for this style of shoot while others went a bit more dressy which also works perfectly well.

Some nursery details….

Subtle and neutral pattern works great and I adore those wooden buttons…

I love this newborn fold over onesie.
